IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth A
Rasmussen
October 13, 1944 – March 16, 2018
Elizabeth Ann Rasmussen, a longtime resident of Lewiston, Idaho, passed away Friday evening, March 16, 2018 at the Pullman Regional Hospital of an extended illness. She was 73. Elizabeth was born October 13, 1944 in Canby, Minnesota. A rural setting in Yellow Medicine County where her parents were farmers. She grew up with four older brothers and a younger sister. Elizabeth didn't finish high school right away, but instead was married to Eugene Walter Rasmussen. They moved to Watertown, South Dakota and then to Rapid City, South Dakota and then later in Custer, South Dakota. Eugene worked for the National Park Service and Elizabeth kept busy as a homemaker and mother to five children. They moved to Garland, Utah where many close family bonds were made. It was in Utah that Elizabeth also went to night school and completed her high school diploma, graduating from Bear River High School in 1976 as her proud family looked on. They moved to Lewiston, Idaho in 1981 and Eugene worked at the Nez Perce National Park Service site at Spaulding. Elizabeth was very active in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and developed many friendships there. She especially enjoyed helping the priests and nuns with whatever she could. Many also remember her as one of the cooks at the catholic school. She completed her Bachelor's degree from Walla Walla Community College. Elizabeth liked to do crafts and things with her hands. She was a very talented seamstress and did lots of quilting too. She made beautiful porcelain dolls and she always kept a beautiful and large bountiful garden. Her love for yard work even carried over to her stays in nursing homes where she would tend the yards outside her window. She loved Bingo and was usually quite successful at winning. She had a soft spot and love for animals and she spent many years as a pet rescue home. After Eugene retired they enjoyed trips to the Oregon Coast or to visit family around the Northwest. She also enjoyed trips with her sister Janet to the Oregon Coast. Elizabeth absolutely loved spending time with her grandchildren. She and Eugene moved to Pullman about one year ago. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Eugene, at home in Pullman; 5 children, Sheri (Dale) Jones, Lewiston, Sally (Randy) Proctor of Olive Branch, Miss., Michelle (Lynne) Riencke of Lewiston, Yvonne Huff of Milton-Freewater, OR., and Allan Rasmussen of Spokane Valley, WA.; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; brothers Walter, Andrew and Danny Lacek and her sister, Janet Binnebose. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamie, a brother, Floyd, and by her parents. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be at a later date. On her birthday, Oct. 13 th of this year her ashes will be spread over her favorite place on the Oregon Coast. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman is caring for the family
