EVELYN RUTH MAGON, 86, former Colfax resident for many years, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Park Royal Care Center in Spokane, WA. Evelyn was born Feb. 13, 1926 in Sauls, ND to Lloyd & Naomi (Kendig) Tack. She moved with her family as a young girl of 4 to Colfax, where she grew up, graduating from Colfax High school in 1944. Following a year studying at Washington State University, Evelyn moved to Tacoma during WWII, working for Boeing. It was during this time that she met and married Archie Magon. They returned to Colfax in 1950 where together they made their home until moving to Spokane five years ago. Evelyn worked for the Superior Court while in Colfax. Evelyn was a long and devoted member of the Colfax United Methodist Church where she was busy in different facets of church life. She was a former Lady Elk of Colfax and was past president of the Colfax Lady JC's. She is survived by her husband Archie of Spokane; her son Richard (Rick) and wife Kay of Minneapolis, MN; two daughters Kathy Thistle of Spokane & Claudia Cottle and husband Henry of Wasilla, AK; two sisters Hazel Leitch and Norma Thorsen and half-sisters Audrey Hahn and Dolores Lowery; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Stanley. The viewing will be held one hour prior to services.
