Obituary

Longtime area resident Farrel Mae Knott, 91, of St. John passed away peacefully on Sunday October 6, 2013 surrounded by her family. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday October 20, 2013 from Noon – 2:00pm at the St. John Community Center.

Farrel was born on May 20, 1922 at Funk, Nebraska to Lorenzo & Effie (Leafgren) Franzen. She grew up and attended school in Holdrege and graduated high school in 1940. She attended college in Hastings, Nebraska for three years and it was there she met and married Charles M. Clark. They made their home in Nebraska during World War II and the Korean War. The couple moved to Seattle in 1955 where Charles took a position with Boeing.

After Charles passed away, Farrel married Gordon Knott and the couple moved to the Union Flat area where they lived and farmed. In 1980 they moved "into town" at St. John and began enjoying their retirement. Farrel and Gordon loved to golf, travel the country together and spend time at their second home in Mesa, Arizona.

Farrel is survived by her sons Robert "Mike" (Chung Ja) Clark of Greenacres, Washington and John (Harriet) Clark of Olympia; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and her brother Larry (Polly) Franzen of Clarkston. She was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Max and two husbands.

The family requests memorial donations in Farrel's honor be directed to the St. John Golf & Country Club or to a charity of your choice.
