Florence (Cloaninger) Sherfey, born in Colfax, Washington June 20, 1932, to Arthur and Florence Cloaninger, passed on April 13, 2024, at the age of 91, in Kennewick Washington.  Raised on a Whitman County wheat farm, along with her five older siblings, she delighted in being a farm girl, and always considered the beautiful Palouse her home.  Consistent with her wheat farm upbringing, Florence loved and cared for all animals, except chickens, throughout her life.  Although hard working, frugal and with a keen business sense, she primarily prioritized nurturing in each of her three children their unique talents and personalities.  While she was challenged with significant blindness later in life, she exemplified living a full and happy life, regardless of what came her way.  A special thanks is owed to the caring and loving staff of Canyon Lakes Nursing Center in Kennewick.  Florence is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Emery Sherfey; her sisters Edna Rose Cloaninger, Marie Perkins, Ruth Wagner, Margie Pogue and brother James Cloaninger; and son-in-law David Gemes.  She is survived by her three children, Larry (Lauri), Paul (David RIP) and Gloria; grandchildren Casey (Nick) Cobble and Tyler (Desi) Sherfey; and great grandchildren Behren and Elliot.  Holy Rosary is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 9:30 a.m., immediately preceding Requim Mass at 10:00 a.m., St. Patrick Catholic Church, Colfax Washington.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Patrick Catholic Church or Whitman County Humane Society.
