Floyd Wayne Hatley, 90, passed away on December 29, 2018 at The Courtyard in Colfax. Floyd was born in Pullman, Washington on January 18, 1928 to Hazen and Edna Maxwell Hatley. Shortly after being born his mother and father moved to Johnson, Washington where Floyd spent his childhood growing up and attending school. After school he started working for his father on the family farm. He married the love of his life, JoAnn Dyer on July 1, 1950 in Moscow, Idaho. Floyd continued work until entering into the United States Army in 1952. He spent two years in the Army before returning home and starting work. He worked for the Gilchrist family and also for Potlatch Forest Inc before moving to Colfax where he started work for Justy F. Dodgen. He worked for Justy up until the business was sold then became self-employed working as a carpenter. He built 9 grandfather clocks and built and remodeled several houses. One of his greatest accomplishments was building the family lake house on Lake Roosevelt. He loved to fish but most importantly he loved to take his grandchildren fishing on the boat. Floyd is survived by his wife at their home, JoAnn; three sons, Tobby Hatley of Spokane, WA, Mickey (Annette) Hatley of Keizer, OR, and Tim (Rachel) Hatley of Seattle, WA; and by five grandchildren, Stephanie (Scott) Jewell, Benjamin Hatley, Todd Hatley, Wyatt Hatley and Barry Hatley. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vera May Hatley, and by his parents. A memorial service will be held on January 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax. Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of your choice.
