Frank Elmo Blain passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the age of 82 at his Spokane, WA home. He was the husband of Betty Anne (Merrival) Blain.
Frank was born in Boise, Idaho on March 7, 1935 to Robert Elmo Blain and Islay Mary (Carroll) Blain. He lived his early life in Republic, WA. Frank joined the United States Air Force in 1955 until 1959. He met his wife Betty while in the Air Force and they married on June, 11th, 1960, in Seattle, WA. Frank joined the IBM Corporation as a Field Service Engineer in 1959 until he retired in 2000. He spent most of his career fixing and maintaining computers for IBM on the WSU campus in Pullman, WA.
A resident of Pullman, WA. for 57 years, Frank was very active and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren more than anything else. He and Betty especially enjoyed being on Whidbey Island with Ed and Laurie, going to Lake Couer d Alene with Angela, Kirk and their family, and being in Southern California with Mary, Michael and their family as well skiing in Utah. Frank read the NY Times daily and spent his free time restoring his beloved 1956 Porsche.
In addition to his wife Betty of 57 years, Frank is survived by his son Edward and his wife Laurie of Shoreline, WA., his daughter Angela Rowbotham and her husband Kirk of Spokane, WA., and his daughter Mary Acquanita and her husband Michael of Laguna Niguel, CA.; a brother Robert Blain of Emeryville, CA., a nephew Bob Girsberger of Portland, OR., Six Grandchildren: Joshua, Benjamin & Hannah Rowbotham and Ashton, Avery, and Luke Acquanita: and a Great-Granddaughter Hayden Mae Huston. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his sister Kay Girsberger.
A celebration of Frank's life will be on January 19, 2018 at Pullman Presbyterian Church at 9:30am with a reception to follow. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Spokane at 2:00pm. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, WA is caring for the family.
