C.F. "Fritz" Zimmer, 91, lifelong LaCrosse area farmer passed away April 18, 2017 at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colfax, WA. Viewing will be from 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, April 24th at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax followed by the Rosary/Vigil service at 5 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday, April 25th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in LaCrosse, WA. Vault interment will follow at the LaCrosse Cemetery. Fritz was born Jan. 2, 1926 in Lewiston, ID to Fred & Teresa (Heitstuman) Zimmer. He attended School in Colfax WA and helped his parents make the move to the LaCrosse/Hay area in the 1940s where he began his farming career working for his father. He married Arlene Neumann on Sept. 8, 1950 in LaCrosse, WA and they made the family farm their home where together they raised their family. Fritz spent most of his time farming and enjoying time spent with his children. He loved golfing and hunting with friends and family. In his later years Fritz also enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in LaCrosse as well as the Lions Club. Fritz was always a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He continued to make the farm his home until moving to Colfax, WA two years ago. He is survived by his children Steve (Patti) Zimmer of LaCrosse; Allan (Faye) Zimmer of Beaverton, OR; Julie Zimmer of Puyallup; Mike (Lorie) Zimmer of LaCrosse; Susan (Ed) Gelmetti of Milwaukie, OR; Marc (Lynette) Zimmer of Moses Lake; his grandchildren Nicole, Rochelle, Jake, Keith, Whitney, Zach, Kaylee, Kelly, Jeff, Jed, Annabella, Daniel, James & Matthew and four great grandchildren. Fritz was preceded in death by his wife Arlene in 1995; his parents, brother Jack Zimmer, sister Bonnie Knox and daughter-in-law Laurie. Memorials are suggested to the LaCrosse Scholarship Foundation, St, Joseph's Catholic Church and The LaCrosse Cemetery Fund.
