Obituary

Gertrude Dissmore, 94, of Pullman passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2014 at Pullman Regional Hospital. At Gertrude's request, no public services will be held.

Gertrude was born on January 26, 1920 in Ellensburg, Washington to Marcus & Anna (Evans) Brown. She graduated high school at Ellensburg and then attended Washington State College (now WSU) studying home economics. She met Chester "Chet" Dissmore and the couple married on April 2, 1940.

She was an avid homemaker and loving mother and grandmother. She was very active as a volunteer in the community, serving many organizations over the years. Chester and Gertrude had a wonderful seventy years together before he passed away in 2010. They had a cabin at Lake Pend O'Reille, and were snowbirds for six months of the year in Rio Verde, Arizona. They played lots of golf and made wonderful friends. They traveled to Tokyo, New Zealand, and many other places.

In 2005, Chet and Gertrude moved into Bishop's Terrace Apartments where they met more new and old friends and enjoyed all the activities they were provided, including electronic bowling on the Nintendo Wii. In fact, Gertrude was the 2012 Bishop Place Wii Bowling Champion.

Gertrude is survived by her son Mark Dissmore of Pullman, four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Chet and daughter Karol. Memorial contributions in Gertrude's honor are suggested to the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation.
