Obituary

Gertrude M. Robinson, lifelong St. John resident, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 in Spokane. She was 94. Viewing will be Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax. Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 6th at 11:00 am at the St. John Christian Church. The burial in St. John Cemetery will be private. Gertrude was born June 29, 1918 in Spokane, Washington to George and Alice (Nelson) Mattingly. She grew up in St. John and attended school there. Her father had died while Gertrude was fairly young and after high school she kept busy helping her mother for a few years. She married Roy Elmer Robinson, a Sunset boy, on June 18, 1940. Roy worked for the Inland Empire Milling Co. in St. John and Gertrude kept busy as a homemaker and mother. Gertrude was a member of the Rebekah's. She was active in the St. John Christian Church; she loved to sing and was an avid reader. She was also a talented seamstress and liked to sew and do embroidery work. Following Roy's death in 1978 Gertrude worked as a cook for the senior meal site in St. John. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed the people she was preparing the meals for. She moved to Spokane in 2006 to be closer to her daughter and lived with her until her passing. She is survived by her two children; Beverly Seidl, Spokane, and Mark and Dana Robinson of Graham, WA; 3 grandchildren, Dennis Schuler, and Sarah and Emily Robinson; 2 great-grandchildren, Michael Moline and Kendall Schuler. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson David Schuler, one brother and three sisters.
