Gloria Faye Repp of Colfax, Washington, loving wife, mother, and servant to her family, friends and community, departed this life on November 12, 2017. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jim Repp, her daughter Sheila and husband Bob Clark, son James Paul and wife Debbie, sister Leila Long, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Born in Seattle, Washington, March 24, 1927, her childhood was split between western Washington and Missoula, Montana. Following high school graduation at 16, she attended college and pursued several jobs in communication before visiting her twin sisters in Colfax where she met her future husband in the Top Notch Café. They married September 12, 1947, and their lives were from that moment intertwined with their city, county and state.
Always drawn to journalism, as her children grew she began work with Jim Stack at the Daily Bulletin (Colfax). She and husband Jim soon purchased the paper, continuing its publication for several years, until Jim was elected Auditor of Whitman County. Jim served as auditor for twenty years.
Her engagement with her community was constant throughout her life. She was president of the local PTA for many years, secretary of the Whitman County Republican Party, precinct committee woman, and active supporter of her husband's several campaigns for office. She served for years as chair of the local Red Cross chapter.
In 1983 she became secretary for her church, Peace Lutheran of Colfax, a position she embraced for almost 30 years, giving support and service to the congregation and its mission.
Gloria's family gives deep thanks to Dr. Bryan Johnson and the staff of Whitman Health and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they provided her in recent months.
A viewing will take place at Bruning Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 15 and Thursday, November 16 from 9:00-4:00 p.m.
A memorial service to celebrate Gloria's life will be held November 29, 2017, 2 p.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in Colfax. In lieu of flowers, her family encourages donations to Peace Lutheran Church or Friends of Hospice, P.O. Box 484,
