Gregory V. Holbrook, 78, passed away on January 20, 2026. He was born on June 14, 1947, in Colfax, Washington, to Chester and Juanita Holbrook. Greg was the youngest of six children and spent his early years in Colfax, where he graduated from Colfax High School.
In 1966, Greg enlisted in the United States Army and served his country until his discharge in 1968. During his service in the Vietnam War, he worked as a front-line medic and was wounded in combat. For his bravery and sacrifice, he was awarded the Purple Heart.
On May 27, 1972, Greg married Ann Tuttle. Together they raised three sons: Ike, David, and Kirk. Greg devoted much of his life to caring for others, building a long and meaningful career in the medical field. In addition to his service as a combat medic in Vietnam, he helped establish the EMT program in Garfield, Washington, and spent over 30 years working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at hospitals in Pullman and Colfax.
Greg was deeply committed to his fellow veterans and his community. At the time of his passing, he was serving as Commander of American Legion Post 24, a role he held with great pride.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, his beloved wife Ann, and his middle son, David. Greg is survived by his oldest and youngest sons, their wives, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
