Obituary

Harold C. Schultheis, 85, a longtime farmer in Colton, WA, died peacefully on April 25, 2016 at his Colton home with his beloved wife, Anne, by his side. Harold was born Dec. 13, 1930 to Andrew & Winifred (Moser) Schultheis, and graduated from Colton High School. He grew up on the family farm and it became his passion. He raised cattle in the canyons above the Snake River, and his horse was a special companion. He worked with his father and brothers to expand their wheat farm to include green peas and other grains over the years. He loved baseball and it was on a baseball field that he met his wife, Anne. The couple married on Oct. 1, 1955 in Colton. Together they made the family farm their home for almost 61 years. Harold was devoted to his Colton community. He was an active parishioner of St. Gall Catholic Church, and a member of numerous community and farm organizations. He was involved in establishing the St. Gall Endowment Fund, along with several other endowments through the years. Harold enjoyed his family, grandchildren, Anne's daycare children, and Colton sporting events in which his sons, daughters and grandchildren participated. He taught many of his grandchildren how to drive in his pickup and enjoyed playing checkers with them. In his spare time, he loved nothing more than studying the family genealogy, reading from his collection of Abraham Lincoln books, and tending to his cattle. Even in his later years when he lived with Post Polio Syndrome, he had an enthusiastic and ever optimistic outlook on life. He counted his blessings everyday. Harold is survived by his wife Anne at the family home, his children Maureen Travaille, Margaret Imrie, Marilyn Schultheis, Bill Schultheis, Jim Schultheis, Theresa Conway, Bernie Schultheis & Michael Schultheis; two brothers Don and Father Michael Schultheis; 20 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Howard, Gene & John and his sister Joan. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7 PM on Friday, May 6, 2016 at St. Gall Catholic Church in Colton. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, May 7th at St. Gall's. Vault interment will follow at the St. Gall Catholic Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, WA is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to the St. Gall Endowment Fund. Online condolences may be sent to www.kimballfh.com
