Jack Lee Hulstrom, Silver Valley resident, passed away June 20, 2011 at the Silverwood Good Samaritan Center in Silverton following a year long struggle with leukemia. Jack was 72. No public memorial service is planned and Jack will be laid to rest privately by his family. He was born in Denver, Colorado to Andy and Della (Meusborn) Hulstrom on August 22, 1938. He graduated from Manual High School in Denver and attended Denver University on a basketball scholarship. His post graduate work was done at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado where he received his Master's Degree. He married Patricia Fritsch in Westminster, Colorado February 28, 1960. Jack's first teaching job was for Wallace Village for Children in Broomfield, Colorado. He taught and coached basketball in Missouri, Iowa, and Delta, Colorado. Jack later became a high school assistant principal and high school principal in the Delta County (Colorado) School District. He retired from teaching in 1989 and they moved to Sandpoint, Idaho. Jack loved the outdoors and sports of any kind. He and Pat moved to the Silver Valley in 1995 to be closer to family. Jack really loved bike riding and could be seen almost daily peddling along the bike trail through the valley. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia, at their home in Smelterville; 2 children, Michael Hulstrom and his wife Karen of Kingston, Idaho and Melinda Hulstrom of Smelterville; 4 grandchildren, Josh Hulstrom of Denver, Taylor Hulstrom and Codi Lodi both of Kingston and Tara Lodi of Boise, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jerry and a sister, Norma Dickerson.
