James Clark Collier
April 28, 1924 – July 21, 2016 (age 92)
James was the 10th child of 15 children born to Benjamin Franklin and Maude Long Collier. James's early years were spent working on the family farm in the Albion area and Steptoe Butte. As soon as James came of age, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. and served in World War ll. Upon returning from the service, James returned again to farming at which time he met Diane Marie Norris. They were married June 1948 with their first son Bruce being born in October 1949 and their second son David being born in July 1952. James stopped farming in 1949-50 and took a position with the Washington State Highway Dept. where he worked for 30 years retiring in 1980 as a supervisor. In 1980 James took a school bus driving position with the Colfax School District which he did until 1994. During this time, James's wife passed away in May 1992 from heart and lung complications. From 1996, James and his best friend Gunda Coy traveled to Arizona every winter until about 2005 when health problems curtailed any long trips. Of James's large family, only two brothers are still living; David in Lynnwood, Washington, and Raymond in Renton, Washington. Also still surviving are James's sons, Bruce of Spokane, Washington and David of rural Prosser, Washington. James requested no funeral or memorial service and the family are honoring his requests.
Bruning funeral home is in charge of all the arrangements.
