Edward Thummel

James Edward "Jim" Thummel, 85, of Pullman, WA passed away May 23, 2025 at the Memory Villas at Bishop Place in Pullman. Jim was born August 1, 1939 in Seguin, Kansas to William & Agatha (Meier) Thummel. The family moved to Chehalis, WA when he was in middle school. Following his high school graduation Jim came to Pullman, WA and attended Washington State University, receiving his Bachelor's degree in 1962 and his Master's degree in 1964, both in Business Administration. He married Kathleen "Kathy" Siple on September 7, 1963 in Pullman where they have made their home since. Jim taught at WSU for a short time before transferring to the Information Technology Department where he served for 38 years until his retirement. He was a systems analyst from the days of programming on punch cards to modern computing. He loved his work and always dedicated his life to it. Jim enjoyed time with his family including their trips to France, camping, bicycle riding, and driving through the mountains. He took thousands of photos and was well known for his slide shows at family events. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church as well as the Pullman Kiwanis Club, serving as treasurer for many years. Jim is survived by his wife Kathy of Pullman; his two sons Gregg (᷄and wife Jessie) Thummel of Mill City, OR; Gary (and wife Bene) Thummel of Aubevoye, France; two brothers Dave (and wife Sally) Thummel and Dan (and wife Sandy) Thummel; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by a sister Eileen Cruise. The memorial service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Independent Living Social Hall at Bishop Place, 811 SE Klemgard Street in Pullman, WA. Jim will be laid to rest at the Pullman City Cemetery. Corbeill Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to the Kiwanis Club of Pullman.
