Obituary

James A. Emerson, Jr., 77, of Pullman, WA passed away July 1, 2026 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA. Jim was born May 5, 1949 in Colfax, WA to James Sr. & Annabelle (Edwards) Emerson. He grew up in Albion, WA and attended school in Pullman. As a child Jim wore braces on his legs and with great determination, he hiked to the top of Steptoe Canyon with his father. A feat that he was always proud of. Jim graduated from Pullman High School in 1967. He married Kathy Johnson on May 17, 1968 in Coeur D'Alene, ID. Together they made Albion, WA a home until moving outside of Pullman. Jim farmed the area for years and later went to work in the construction industry he retired from Motley and Motley. Jim loved his family and especially adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Being a grandpa was very special to him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Jim was a lifetime member of the Pullman Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife Kathy at their home outside of Pullman; his daughter Kim Keifer of Pullman; his son Jim Emerson living in Alaska; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and siblings Michael Emerson, Patrick Emerson, Peggy (Jeff) Perkins, Karen (John) Hangesh, Dan (Vicki) Emerson and Dawn (Corey) Krantz. In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by a son AJ Emerson in 2025 and his brother Kevin Emerson. A small graveside celebration will be held at the Albion Cemetery on Friday July 10th at 10 am. Additionally there will be a gathering at Zeppoz at 3pm the same day.
