Obituary

Jane (Keifer) Bloomfield (77) lost her fight with cancer on December 10, 2014 at the family home outside of Pullman.

Born in Pullman to Dan and Hattie Keifer on April 23, 1937. Her mother Hattie died 4 months later. Effie Ryan her aunt with help from her father Dan raised her.

Jane graduated from Pullman High School and Kelsey-Baird business school.

On March 17th, 1956 she married her high school sweetheart Dean Bloomfield. They made their home in Pullman until 1964 when they built a new home on the farm. Their two children daughter Terri resides in Klamath Falls, Oregon and Son Todd who resides in Pullman.

To describe Jane in one word would be "workaholic". She always had two jobs sometimes more. She was employed by the city of Pullman form 1958-1970 in various positions including, secretary to the city supervisor, deputy city clerk, and deputy city treasurer. She was a legal secretary for a local law firm from 1970-1973, court administrator for Pullman District Court and Pullman Municipal Court form 1973-1981. Jane was the administrative executive secretary for the vice president of business and finance at Washington State University until retiring in 1999.

One of her many second jobs was secretary of Whitman County Rural Fire District 12 which she recently retired from after 41 years of service. She was a financial advisor for Beta Beta Chi Omega, bookkeeper for the farming operation, sometimes harvest truck driver, wife, mother of two, and grandmother to her three grandkids Laura, Shauna, and Sam Bloomfield all graduates of Pullman High School and local colleges.

She has belonged to a number of service organizations and served on many committees. In her spare time she loved to work in her yard and travel with her husband and friends including trips around the USA including Alaska and Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Africa. Jane enjoyed her pets and may have the largest collection of Schnauzer figurines in the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dale Keifer, and her aunt Effie Ryan. Jane is survived by her husband Dean; daughter Terri of Klamath Falls, OR; son Todd of Pullman and her three grandchildren Laura, Shauna & Sam Bloomfield.

The celebration of life will be held at 3 pm Saturday, December 27th at Banyans On The Ridge, Pavillion in Pullman. Kimball Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

The family suggests any memorial gifts be made to Whitman County District 12 volunteers at 912 W Main St or the Pullman Memorial Hospital.
