Jane Littell (Coffman) Cofer, 90, of Pullman passed away on Saturday December 14, 2013 at Pullman Regional Hospital. Private family graveside services will be held in Harrisonburg, Virginia later in the week.

Jane was born on January 3, 1923 at Staunton, Virginia to B. Franklin & Jane (Watts) Coffman. When she was young her family moved to Harrisonburg where she graduated high school in 1940. She graduated from Madison College (now James Madison University) in 1944 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. After graduation she met William S. Cofer while she was teaching in Roanoke, Virginia. They were married on August 18, 1951 in Roanoke.

William accepted a position as an engineer for The Martin Company (now Lockheed-Martin) and the couple lived in various communities around eastern seaboard area including Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. After William passed away in 1986, Jane moved to Williamsburg, Virginia and lived there until moving to Pullman in 2004.

Jane was a very strong Methodist and enjoyed being involved in her church by teaching Sunday school and attending Bible studies. She loved to write short stories, was an avid reader and was known in her family for knitting beautiful afghans.

Jane is survived by her son William F. (Elizabeth) Cofer of Pullman and daughter Jane (Larry) Vaught of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren James F. (Kate) Cofer of Bremerton; William D. (Allie) Cofer of Pullman; Elizabeth (Brett) Lane of Richmond and Josh (Ashlyn) Vaught of Richmond; great-grandchildren Franklin, Ava, Ross, Evan and Emma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Franklin W. Coffman who was killed in WWII; husband William S. Cofer and grandson Toby Vaught. The family suggests memorial contributions in Jane's honor to a charity of your choice.
