Janiece J. Anderson, 76, a Garfield area farmer and homemaker passed away Feb. 18, 2017 at the Whitman Health and Rehabilitation Center in Colfax, WA. The memorial service will be held on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Bruning Funeral Home, 109 N. Mill St., in Colfax, WA. Interment will take place at the Garfield Cemetery at a later date. Janiece was born December 29, 1940 in Colfax, WA to Calvin and Lola (Masters) Appel. She grew up in the Steptoe-Colfax area graduating from Colfax High School in 1959. On Feb. 6, 1960 Janiece married the love of her life, Jimmy E. Anderson. They worked side by side farming in the Garfield-Farmington area while raising 4 sons. She raised a garden, canned produce and prepared meals and desserts for many farm workers all while being involved in the daily operation of the farm. Janiece was active in 4-H as a member and a leader, involved with the Palouse Empire Fair, a member of Farm Bureau, volunteered for hospice including serving on the Friends of Hospice Board and volunteered in the Garfield Elementary 2nd/3rd grade room. She enjoyed sharing her baking with others, crocheting, sewing and quilting for the family and camping with her husband along the Washington Coast. They retired in September 2001 and moved into Garfield. She is survived by her husband Jimmy at their Garfield home; sons Jeff (Alyce) of Pullman; Keith (Audrey) of Cheney; Bruce of Spokane; Jiggs (Debbie) of Garfield; and 9 grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous cousins and 3 sisters. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax, WA has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to a favorite charity.
