Jean Dale Riedle, retired Osburn area school teacher, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Whitman Hospital in Colfax, Washington. She was 86. She was born July 2, 1926 in Fairview, Montana to Vern and Edith Brockway. Her family moved to Sandpoint, Idaho when Jean was a teenager. She graduated from high school there in 1944. Jean attended Lewiston Normal School and the University of Idaho, receiving her teaching degree. Her first teaching assignment was in Burke, Idaho and included rolling in the awnings of the school each time the train passed by. She married Dan Riedle of Wallace December 19, 1948. They made their home in Osburn, Idaho where Jean taught for many years in the elementary school. She also taught briefly in Kellogg and for the last few years of her career she taught at the junior high in Wallace. Following her retirement, Jean was a substitute teacher for many years. She loved to golf and she and Dan were very active in the Shoshone Golf Course at Big Creek. She also enjoyed reading and cooking. In addition to her membership in the Shoshone Golf Course, she was also a member of the Elks Club and the Retired Teachers Association. Her husband, Dan, passed away in 1995. She is survived by 2 sons and their wives; Chris & Colleen Riedle of Hayden, Idaho and Michael & Debbie Riedle of Lewiston, Idaho; 4 grandchildren, Sean Riedle, Lewiston, Krichelle Riedle, Lewiston, Megan Riedle of Boulder, CO and Whitney Ruddell of Clarkston, WA. In addition to her husband Jean was preceded in death by her twin brother, Jim, a sister Laverne Blohowiak and her by her parents.
