IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Jeremy Schluneger, 43, of Oakesdale, lost his life in a logging truck accident early Monday morning, September 15, 2025 east of Clarkia, Idaho. Services will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025. A limited graveside service will be at 1:00 in the Onecho Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life service at the Oakesdale Fire Station at 3:00 pm. A volunteer fireman with Fire District 10 out of Oakesdale; Jeremy's fellow firefighters will honor him by giving his family a procession from Onecho to the service in Oakesdale. It will pass through Colfax around 1:45-2:00.
Jeremy Joe Schluneger was born in Colfax December 14, 1981 to Joe and Shellie Hulse Schluneger. They lived in Steptoe at first and later in Colfax. Jeremy attended schools at both places. During his high school years, he kept busy working for area farmers and was always tinkering with motorcycles and snowmobiles. Anything that ran.
He began dating Amy Teel, a junior classmate in Colfax. They became inseparable. Following his graduation in 2000 he attended Walla Walla Community College in machining. After a couple years he and Amy moved to Spokane and he attended Spokane Community College while she was in dental hygienist school. He received his Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked at a job for SCAFCO; a grain bin company in Spokane. Jeremy didn't find much satisfaction with that job sitting in an office reading blueprints so he returned to his love for farming.
He married Amy Marie Teel in Maui, Hawaii on December 13, 2005. They made their home in Colfax and he continued farming for R & D Miller Farms and later with Matt Cochran. He farmed with Cochrans for about three years following Matts death. Matt and his daughter Rebecca were an important part of his life.
Jeremy and Amy's family grew in 2010 with the birth of their daughter Madelyn and again in 2014 with arrival of son Brantley. Jeremy could not have been prouder of his family. He absolutely loved watching his kids grow, spending time at their sports or school activities and taking them on trips. The family especially enjoyed visits around our countries beautiful National Parks.
Jeremy farmed for over 10 years for the Coeur d'Alene Tribe out of Tensed, Idaho and about 6 years ago they moved to Oakesdale. The family settled right in and Jeremy got busy helping around town in any way he could. He was a volunteer firefighter on the Oakesdale Fire Department/Fire District 10 and a first responder. He could often be found helping at the pool, in the city park, or one of his neighbors or friends with a project. He liked working around his house and fixing it up. Always quick to offer help to others; he often turned down help when it was offered to him. "No, you spend this time with your family; he would often say, I've got this."
He loved anything with motors and he was a good mechanic too. He liked to ride snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, dirt bikes. He was involved with some friends who were in logging and last year Jeremy bought his own truck and was beginning his own operation. He loved being in the mountains and wasn't afraid of hard work. Jeremy was a quick friend to anybody he met and a lifetime friend to so many he touched along the way in his life. He will be missed by his community in so many ways.
He is survived at home in Oakesdale by his wife and kids; Amy, Maddie and Brantley; his parents Joe and Shellie in Onecho; by his sister Carlena Schluneger at Onecho and her son, his nephew, Cole Thornton Schluneger; and by his maternal grandmother, Alvira Spangler of Pullman. He also leaves behind his mother and father-in-law; Ed and Mary Teel of Wallowa, OR. and sister-in-law; Sara (Jesse) Garza and their children; niece and nephews, Emma, Jesse, Jr., and Wesley as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins and friends too numerous to count. Jeremy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandfather.
The family suggests memorial gifts in his name be made to the Oakesdale Fire Department or to Oakesdale for Parks & Rec. On-line guest book is at www.corbeillfuneralhomes.com
