Obituary

Jerry Neale Klossner, 83, Colfax resident for 43 years, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 13, 2025 at his Spokane residence.

Loved and respected by many and so much fun to be around, he would have preferred to stay with us longer to say more 'I love yous' and share more of his laughter, smiles, and sense of humor. Jerry leaves us, however, with his love of reading, his gentle wisdom, his joy in the Lord and pride in his family's accomplishments. More so, his memory lives on as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Jerry was born at the old St. Ignatius Hospital March 14, 1942, in Colfax, to Leonard 'Kelly' Klossner and Madeline (Reese) Klossner.  He was raised in Pullman, graduating from Pullman High School in 1960 and Washington State University in 1968.

Jerry served six years in the Army National Guard of Washington. He began his banking career in Wenatchee, Washington with National Bank of Commerce where he met Jackie Morgan and after a five-month courtship, they married on March 29, 1969. They welcomed a daughter, Janel Aileen, in 1972 and a son, Kelly Neale, in 1974. As a family, they enjoyed backpacking the Cascades and swimming and sailing at the family cabin on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Board games, card games and WSU Cougar sports were family favorites. Jerry's promise to the kids was that 'WHEN the Cougars go to Rose Bowl, we will all go, too.' Sure enough, the Klossner family was there in 1998 and again in 2003.

Jerry was a lifelong, small-town banker who enjoyed helping farmers succeed. Jerry, Jackie, and Janel moved to Pullman in 1973 where he began working at Old National Bank and later the Colfax branch. He was two years at Bank of Whitman before ending his 33-year banking career working with his best friend, Wayne Wexler, at Farmington State Bank.

Jerry cared deeply for the Colfax community. His contributions as President of the Colfax Chamber of Commerce, Colfax Rotary Club, Community Fund, Whitman County Banker's Association, Colfax Campfire Board and Sacajawea Council Campfire demonstrated his support. He was involved with the Whitman County Cancer Society and Secretary/Treasurer of the Colfax Golf Club Men's Club.

Jerry always said sports taught him discipline, sportsmanship and team building which he applied to his approach to both family and work life. As a Pullman Greyhound athlete in basketball and football, he lettered all four years. Among his favorite activities, he played the greens at the Colfax Golf Course. This resulted in strong friendships, endless laughs, and numerous stories with his golfing buddies. The golfing group traveled to courses around the region and Canada. All that practice paid off as he made the extraordinary achievement of three holes-in-one in his lifetime.

Baptized with his daughter Janel and attending Promise Keepers with his son Kelly, Jerry found faith and a commitment to his Lord and Savior Jesus later in life. This grew through his own personal study and many group Bible studies including Bible Study Fellowship. After moving to Spokane, Jerry was a member of South Hill Bible Church. Even more importantly, if we choose to believe in the Jesus he followed, we have the promise we will be with him, yet another day.

He is survived by his wife Jackie of 57 years, in Spokane, Washington, his daughter Janel (John) Fausti of Sandpoint, Idaho, his son Kelly (Amy) Klossner, grandchildren Abby, Brayden, Emery and Colton Klossner of Spokane, Washington, and his sister Jo Ann (Jim) Roberts of Seattle and several nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful to Alicia Payne, for her love and the compassionate care she provided to Jerry which allowed him to remain at home with Jackie and to Horizon Hospice of Spokane. The phone calls from Pullmanite Lloyd Slusser brightened Jerry's days, too, with talks of farming and Cougar sports.

Jerry's memorial service is scheduled Tuesday, August 26th, 3:00 PM, Colfax Community Church in Colfax. A private family burial service will follow with reception for all at the Colfax Golf Club. The family suggests memorial donations to South Hill Bible Church, Colfax Community Church, or the American Cancer Society. On-line guest book is at www.corbeillfuneralhomes.com
