Schmick
August 5, 1935 – April 16, 2023
Byron Gerald, "Jerry" Schmick, died peacefully on April 16, 2023. He was born at home in Endicott, Washington on Aug. 5 th 1935, to Byron and Esther (Morasch) Schmick. He was the first of four kids and grew up with his siblings on the family homestead in Endicott where he helped his Dad farm. After graduating from Endicott High School he attended Washington State College briefly and then returned home to continue farming with his father. He married his elementary/high school sweetheart, Joan Schmick (Lust), who preceded him in death in 2013. Jerry is survived by 3 siblings, Stan Schmick, Connie McDonald (Schmick) and Tom Schmick. He is also survived by his 4 children, Luann (Brett) Flanagan (Schmick), David (Jill) Schmick, Jill (Daniel) Moore (Schmick), Jeff (Karen) Schmick, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Jerry was not only a dedicated and hardworking farmer; he was also an active member of the community. He was a member of the Agriculture Soil Conservation (ASC), served on the Endicott School Board, loved supporting community sports teams and Washington State University Athletics. Jerry and his friendly spirit will be missed by many.
Memorial Services will be Monday, April 24 th , 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Nazarene Church in Colfax. Burial will be in the Endicott Cemetery at 11:30 AM. Jerry will lie in repose at Corbeill Funeral Home in Colfax, Wednesday through Friday, should friends wish to stop by. Memorial gifts in his memory are suggested to the Wally the Walker fund in care of the Council on Aging (210 S. Main Street, Colfax) or Gentiva Hospice (1610 NE Eastgate Blvd #610, Pullman).
