James H. "Jim" Berry, Pullman resident, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. He was 75. Jim was born October 9, 1941, the youngest of five children, to Robert and Pearl Waller Berry. He was born in Lancaster, California and moved with his family at a young age to Pullman where his dad worked in construction and his mom cooked in the fraternities. He graduated from Pullman High School in 1959 and enlisted right away in the U.S. Army. He received electronics training in the military and was honorably discharged in July 1962. Jim married Mary Lou Ledeman in April of 1963 and they made their home in Pullman. He worked for the Pullman Grange Supply and later owned and operated the Arco Gas Station in Pullman. Jim also worked for the Arden Dairy in Pullman. He and Mary Lou were later divorced and Jim married Anna Arlene Harting on July 7, 1973 in San Diego, California. They lived in various places around the Northwest and Jim worked for over twenty years as a National Sales Manager for SafetyKleen Corporation, an industrial waste management company. He retired in 2011 and has spent the last several years in Pullman. Jim was an avid golfer and loved to spend time on the links. He was a lifelong die-hard Cougar fan, a member of the MOOSE lodge and liked to enjoy a whiskey now and then. He will be missed by his children and step-children; Laurie Berry of Columbia Falls, MT, Debbie Yates, Colfax, Theresa Collier of Peabody, MA., and Jodi Wernecke of Pullman; his 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren as well as by his brother Robert Berry of Spirit Lake, ID., and sister, Maxine Baldwin of Bartlesville, OK. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, his son James Reed Berry in April 2016 and by a sister, Louise Boyd, and a brother, Bill Berry.
