James William "Jimmy" Herne, Colfax, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 at Sacred Heart in Spokane. He was 53. Jimmy was born May 24, 1960 in Long Island, New York to James and Gertrude Clauss Herne. As a young man, he moved to Florida to work with his brother Jeffrey in the construction trade. He also did some work as a painter and in home remodeling projects. Jimmy was a general "handyman". He moved to Colfax around 2000 to be closer to his sister, Vicki. His brother Jeffrey moved here a short time later. Jimmy enjoyed camping and fishing. He also liked to do wood-working. He especially loved spending time with his family including his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his daughter Ashley; two sisters, Vicki Brock of Colfax and Lori Hawson of Long Island, NY.
