IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan
Plowman
July 24, 1932 – April 1, 2018
Joan Plowman, 85, of Moscow
Joan Plowman, 85, of Moscow, ID passed away April 1, 2018 at Gritman Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1932 in Long Beach, CA to Theodore & Katherine (Scoville) Zinniger. Joan grew up on a small farm in Encinitas, CA with her older brother Ted. From an early age Joan helped with the farming responsibilities and kept a large garden which helped support the family and nearby community.
Joan married Stanley Plowman in Burbank, CA on Dec. 29, 1949. She was a loving wife and mother, taking great pride in her children's accomplishments. Year later with three teenagers in tow, they'd had enough of city life, so they moved to a small town to operate their new marina on Trinity Lake in Trinity Center, CA. While in Trinity, Joan's adventurous nature spurred her decision to obtain her pilot's license and become a Registered Nurse which gave her much pleasure until she retired. Joan often spoke of Trinity as the best years of her life with stories of adventure and friendships made along the way.
Joan was an artist, a Jill of all trades, skilled boater, pilot, avid reader and an all-around trouble maker in a loving way. She was a spontaneous and an outspoken woman. She was generous of spirit and interested in a wide variety of subjects and activities. Joan had a very active imagination and would enthusiastically assist anyone in trouble or need. She championed people of unusual and artistic inclinations throughout her life. Following the death of her husband Stan in 2013 she remained in the area to be near family. Everyone she met thought of her as a character, an untamed spirit. Joan will be missed and remembered.
Joan is survived by sons Steve(Carol) and Tom, daughters Jan (Steve) Tuggle and Kate (Scott) Barnes , numerous grandchildren and great grand-children. Family services will be in Trinity Center, CA. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements.
