Obituary

Joann C. Aldrich of Moscow, Idaho passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at her home. She was 73. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 24th at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax. Viewing will be Wednesday from 11-5 and Thursday from 9 until service time. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery. Joann was born July 12, 1937 in South Dakota, where she spent her early years. She later moved to Cheney, Washington and graduated from high school there. She met Alan Aldrich at high school and the couple married August 10, 1958 in St. John, WA. They moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where Alan worked for the Simplot Corporation. Joann kept very busy as a homemaker and mother to their young family. As her children got a little older, Joann worked for several years in the Sears store in Idaho Falls. They moved to Driggs, Idaho for a time and in 1983 Alan began working at WSU as a swine researcher and they moved to Pullman. For many years, they also kept a "weekend" farm just north of Colfax. They loved spending time there as a family and fixing up the house and barn. Joann enjoyed sewing, square dancing, crochet and she loved to go shopping. She was a member of the MOOSE Lodge in Pullman. Alan died in 1993 and Joann moved to Lewiston, Idaho for a while. She moved to Moscow a few years later and worked as a private duty nurse and caregiver doing home care and she was also a housekeeper at Good Samaritan Village. She is a breast cancer survivor and participated in the Relay for Life over the last seven years. Joann has always had a love for family and friends and found love again with her significant other, Richard Tavis, and together they made a home in Moscow. She is survived by Richard at their home; two sons, Kevin and Brad Aldrich both of Surprise, Arizona; a granddaughter, Laura Brawdy of Spokane; her brother Reed and a sister, Maurine. In addition to her husband Alan, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Dalley in 2002, a brother Larry, and her parents. On-line guest book is at www.bruningfuneralhome.com
