John Robert Crotteau, 84, of Pullman, died July 30, 2016 at his Pullman home. John was born Sept. 14, 1931 in Libby, MT to Vernon & Anna (Motichka) Crotteau. He grew up and attended school in Libby following which John at a lumber company for a time. John was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War serving at Ft. Carson and in the Korean Theater. Following his honorable discharge John returned to Libby and then spent time living and working as a cook in Great Falls, MT. John came to Pullman and went to work at W.S.U. as a cook, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service. He married Judith Scott on July 16, 1973 and together they made Pullman their home. She was the love of his life and preceded him in death in 2008 having spent 35 years together. John spent years as a member of the Army National Guard and was a lifetime member of the VFW as well as a former member of the Moose Lodge. During his retirement years John cooked at the Pullman Senior Center and enjoyed all of his associations there. He was noted especially for his Irish stew and special chili. He is survived by his sister Frances Fuller of Weiser, ID; his sister-in-law & husband Linda & Butch Linehan; brother-in-law & wife Tom & Marilyn Scott and his nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Judy he was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Valentine Crotteau & Vernann Le Bar and his brother James Crotteau. The memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016 at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. Military Honors will follow at the funeral home. Private interment will take place at the Viola Cemetery at a later date. Kimball Funeral Home has been entrusted with caring for John's family.
