IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Hall
Nieman
November 27, 1956 – October 27, 2021
John Hall Nieman, St. John resident, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. He was 64. Memorial Services will be planned at a later date. John was born November 27, 1956 in Wenatchee, Washington to Billie and Jean Hall Nieman. He grew up on the family's fruit orchard near Dryden/Cashmere along with his brother and 2 sisters. John graduated from the Dryden High School and soon after he enlisted in the United State Army. He served during part of the Vietnam era from 1975 to 1981 before being honorably discharged and returning to Central Washington. He married Heather Urness in Manson, Washington in 1983. They made their home in the Wenatchee Valley where John worked for the Alcoa Aluminum plant for about ten years. John and Heather then moved to Palm Springs, California where he worked in the auto industry as a mechanic. They lived there for about three years before moving back to Washington in 1990. When they moved to Washington, they lived in Dryden while John worked for The Dryden Warehouse as a maintenance manager of the pear cold storage unit. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and they determined that Washington had more of that lifestyle to offer than California. They moved to St. John, Washington in 1997 and he went to work for the Whitman County Road Department. After 15 years, he retired and occasionally worked for area farmers during harvest season. He also drove the van for the St. John School District. John had lots of varied interests but one thing he truly enjoyed was riding his motorcycle with his son. He had just gotten a new bike and was really excited about it. The Nieman's also enjoyed camping and they liked spending time more recently at Long Beach, Washington. John is survived by his wife, Heather, at their home in St. John; son Travis and his wife Karli also of St. John; his mother Jean at home in Dryden; and by his sister, Judy Connors also of Dryden. He was preceded in death by his father Billie, sister Diana, and by his brother David. On-line condolences may be left at www.bruningfuneralhome.com
