Jonny Joe Allen
Jonny Joe Allen, 57, of Pullman, WA died Monday, April 17 at Pullman Regional Hospital following a prolonged illness.
Jon was the sixth child of seven, born to Dick and Elsie (Wysong) Allen. He was born July 24, 1959 in Colfax, WA.
He spent his younger years on the family farm in Potlatch, ID in the shadow of Gold Hill. The family later moved to Palouse, WA where he finished school. He graduated at the top of his class in 1977.
Jon will be remembered as always studious, but having a great sense of humor, as well as his kindness and generosity towards his friends. He was an avid reader and had a broad range of subjects and authors that he enjoyed.
He went to work for WSU Information Technology in 1980 and worked his entire career for that department. He was known to say that with the constant advancements and changes in technology, he wasn't likely to get bored or stagnant. He retired in December 2015.
Jon is survived by his partner of 10 years, Jim Gropp of Pullman, sister Virginia (Frosty) Walters, brother Jim Allen, sister Patricia (Bill) Weith, sister LuAnn (Wayne) Nelson, sister Becky (Steve) Brink, and sister Kate (Susie) Allen, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, Washington has been entrusted with arrangements.
At Jon's request, no service will be held. Memorials can be made to Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation.
