Joseph Ervin Mayer, 88, of Uniontown, WA passed away January 13, 2026 at his Uniontown home.  Joe was born February 25, 1937 in Spokane, WA to Ervin & Lucile (Koch) Mayer.  He grew up and received his education in Spokane.  Following graduation from North Central High School, Joe entered the United States Navy.  He served for several years and upon his honorable discharge returned to Spokane and went to work for the Parks Department.  Joe married Esther Joyce DeLeo on March 25, 1973 in Spokane, following which he began his career with the U.S. Postal Service.  The family moved to Uniontown, WA in 1987 where Joe served as Postmaster until his retirement.  He was a devoted member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and served in many different aspects of the church's life including Knights of Columbus.  Joe enjoyed golfing, biking, fishing, hunting and raising his chickens.  Family time was especially important to him.  He is survived by his wife Joyce at the family home in Uniontown; four daughters Patricia Kelly of Lewiston, ID; Susan Mayer of Uniontown; Frances Bakke of Kennewick, WA; Janet Mayer-Walsh of Spokane; his son David Mayer of Clarkston, WA; two brothers John & Robert Mayer; a sister Linda Mayer and his nine grandchildren.  In addition to his parents Joe was preceded in death by a daughter Cecelia Mayer in 2018.  Services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Uniontown, WA.  The Rosary will begin at 10:30 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow the services at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.  Corbeill Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements.  Online condolences may be sent to www.corbeillfuneralhomes.com
