Obituary

Julie Roberts, a longtime Colfax resident, passed away peacefully Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Courtyard in Colfax. She was 84 years old.

Julie was born on July 27, 1941 in Colfax to John and Lydia Weitz Daubert. She grew up in Colfax, attended Martha Washington Grade School and graduated from Colfax High School in 1959. She continued her education at Eastern Washington University for one year and later graduated from the Kelsey-Baird Business School in Spokane.

She married her high school sweetheart, Vic Roberts, in Spokane on January 27, 1961. They lived in Spokane for one and a half years, and during that time she worked as a secretary at the Spokane City Hall. Following Vic’s graduation from Eastern Washington University in 1962, they relocated to Dayton, WA, where he began his teaching career. During this time, Julie dedicated herself to her family as a wife, mother and homemaker. In 1967, after five years in Dayton, the family returned to Colfax to help with the family farm and establish their permanent home.

Julie embraced being a farmer’s wife and supported her children’s participation in athletics and school events. She took great pride in her flower beds, especially her pansies and roses. She enjoyed staying active through daily walks in the North Flat neighborhood of Colfax. Julie was well known for her love of cats, often keeping one or two as companions. She also maintained an extensive doll collection and valued the time spent with her family and grandchildren. She and Vic shared a love of travel, including annual winter trips to Hawaii, as well as numerous vacations and river cruises to destinations around the world. Several of Julie’s favorite trips were to Egypt, China and Scotland.

Julie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Vic, at their Colfax home; by her three children, Mike (Margo) Roberts of Colfax, Vic (Lori) Roberts of Kennewick and Lisa (Jim) Retzer of Colfax; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Mason) Minter, Nathan (Erin) Roberts, Rachel (Jesse) Hunt, Victoria Roberts, Trevor Roberts, Morgan (Sean) Austin and Landon Willson; and by three great-grandchildren; Reagan and Jace Minter and Calvin Hunt. She was preceded in death by her parents.
