Junette Dahmen, 96, passed away on March 26, 2019 in Lewiston, Idaho. She was born June 8, 1922 in Uniontown, WA to Peter and Julia (Hennen) Luy. She grew up and attended school in Uniontown, graduating from high school in 1939. Junette worked as a Postal Clerk in Uniontown for seven years. She married Steve Dahmen in April of 1948 and they made their home in Uniontown for 58 years. Junette managed the Uniontown branch of the Whitman County Library for 26 years. She studied art and participated in art workshops at the University of Idaho before continuing her work as a water media artist for over 40 years. Junette also helped Steve with harvest and other farm work for many years.
Junette and Steve were avid Washington State University Cougar fans for over 50 years. They traveled with the football and basketball teams to games all over the United States, even attending games in Russia, Japan, and China. They also enjoyed trips in their camper throughout the northwest, Canada and Mexico.
Junette was a lifelong member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Uniontown. She spent years helping with the cleaning of the church and decorating the altars. She took pleasure in raising flowers for church decorations.
Junette and her husband Steve donated their dairy barn and famous iron wheel fence to the Uniontown Development Assn. The association has turned it into the "Dahmen Artizan Barn" for artists from all over the northwest.
Junette is survived by her sister-in-law Anna Redinger and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband Steve preceded her in death 2006. In addition her parents and one brother James died earlier.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 5, 2019 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Uniontown at 11:00 AM. Vault interment will follow at the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. All are invited to a reception following the services at the Dahmen Barn. It is encouraged that everyone wears their favorite Cougar gear. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements.
