Kathleen "Sue"
Kincaid
February 15, 1943 – May 5, 2026
It is with deep love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Kathleen “Sue” Kincaid, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and talented artist to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born on February 15, 1943 in Asotin County, she lived a life rooted in creativity, resilience, and generosity. Sue was deeply creative with the ability to turn something simple into a work of beauty. She was stylish and elegant always, known by her grandchildren for her collection of high heeled shoes.
At seventeen, Sue married her high school sweetheart, a local farmer, Mike Kincaid. Mike and Sue had sons Cris and Keith and built a family home on their farmland. Mike and Sue were very active and invested in the community, and Sue was always willing to lend a hand to family, friends, or neighbors in need.
After separating with Mike when her sons were grown, Sue decided to pursue her passions. She attended Spokane Community College and earned her Associate of Arts degree. Sue opened a flower shop “Flowers by Kathleen” in the Palouse Mall. She spent the mornings before her store opened rollerblading the halls of the empty mall. In her early fifties, Sue moved to Las Vegas to work for a high-end event company providing floral design for the hotels and celebrity events. She had many notable stories from these years — her resume included dressing Sir Elton John’s suite with florals during his residency at Caesars Palace. She was inducted into the prestigious American Institute of Floral Designers, an elite organization that sets and maintains high industry standards, recognizing excellence.
After ten years in Las Vegas, Sue decided to return home closer to her family. She still wasn’t ready to retire so she moved to the University of Idaho into the Pi Beta Phi sorority house as House Director. “Miss Sue” was beloved by the women for her youthful energy. She was always willing to help out with a craft project or wardrobe malfunction. During this time, she met a fellow Fraternity House Director; Tom Schmidt and they have enjoyed each other’s company over the last several years.
Above all, she loved her family deeply. She leaves behind her sister and best friend, Arlene (Darryl) and sons Cris (Wendy) and Keith (Chrisi), who will carry her spirited generosity with them always. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and by her companion, Tom. Sue loved tracing her family genealogy, she was most excited to find a link to the Scottish royal family.
Sue is an example that no matter your age, it’s never too late to try something different, learn a new skill, or travel to a new place. We find comfort in the many joyful memories she gave us and in the example she set through a life well-lived. We will remember and love her always.
A celebration of life will be held on June 5th, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the 1912 Center, 412 E 3rd Street, Moscow, ID 83843. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gritman Hospital Auxiliary, or that loved ones honor her memory by bringing home an orchid, Sue’s favorite flower and symbol of her creativity.
