IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathryn
Powers
May 13, 1947 – November 15, 2024
Kathryn (North) Powers, a.k.a. Kate or Katie, passed away on November 15, 2024, in Dayton, Washington. Kate was born in Lakeview, Oregon on May 13, 1947, to Dean and Thelma North, where she grew up with her three siblings. After high school, she attended Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. She married Ray Powers in 1976 and they owned a successful office supply business in Albany until retiring to Sisters, Oregon. During their time in Albany and Sisters, they enjoyed participating in local car clubs where they showed Ray's restored 1932 Ford Coupe. Following Ray's passing, Kate relocated to Dayton, Washington in 2017 to be near her brother and sister-in-law. She was active in the communities where she lived, providing foster homes for dogs and cats awaiting adoption and volunteering with the Sisters Kiwanis Club, the Food Banks in Sisters and Dayton, and the St. Vincent thrift store in Dayton. She attended and was active in the Dayton First Congregational Church-UCC.
Kate is survived by sisters Ellen Barton of La Grande, Oregon and Mary Church (Roger) of Lakewood, Washington, and sister-in-law Brenda North (Ron) of Dayton, Washington, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, brother Ron North, and brother-in-law Ed Barton. A celebration of Kate's life will be planned in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local animal shelter or an organization assisting veterans. Corbeill Funeral Homes in Dayton, WA is caring for the family.
