Kay Annette King, former area resident, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 in Hood River, Oregon. She was 75. Kay was born May 25, 1936 in Moscow, Idaho to Walker and Betty Mae (Benjamin) Holder. She grew up in Moscow and attended schools there. She married Lloyd Delbert King in St. Maries, Idaho in October 1953. They lived in the Joel area near Moscow for a while where he worked as a mechanic and truck driver. They started their family and Kay kept busy as a homemaker and mother. In 1963 the family moved to Prospect, Oregon. Several more moves would come as they followed construction jobs from place to place. Eventually they settled in Roseburg, Oregon. In the late 1980's Kay and Lloyd moved to Palm Springs, CA. and spent several years managing motor home parks in that area. Her husband passed away in February 2000. Kay loved gambling, especially playing the "one armed bandits". She would often tell her family, "I'm going to get milk", but they all knew and quietly indulged her. She also liked to work crossword puzzles and jig-saw puzzles or watch television programs such as "Days of Our Lives". She moved to Hood River, Oregon just over a year ago to be with family. Kay is survived by 5 children; Debra King and Christine Campbell both of Hood River, Bradley King of Florida, Scott King, Roseburg, OR. and Lisa Zoeter of Looking Glass, OR.; 3 step-children, Carolyn Aschenbrenner of Moscow, ID., Douglas King of Tennessee and Wesley King of Oregon City, OR.; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ted Holder of Genesee, ID. and 3 sisters, Patty Flodin, Genesee, Donna Tremmel of New Meadows, ID. and Jeanette Askins of Palouse, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. A graveside service will be held at the Garfield Cemetery, Saturday, June 11th at 11:00 AM.
