Kenneth Leo Cox, retired Colfax pharmacist, passed away Monday night, June 4, 2012 at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane. He was 75. Graveside Services will be Friday, June 8th at 2:00 pm in the Colfax Cemetery. Pastor Bob Ingalls will officiate. Viewing will be at Bruning Funeral Home on Thursday from 9 to 4. A lifelong resident of Colfax, Kenneth was born here October 15, 1936 to Leo and Gladys (Stewart) Cox. Following graduation from Colfax High School in 1955 Ken began pharmacy school at WSU. While a senior in college he met Ruth Lund from Tacoma who was also a senior at WSU and the couple married June 15, 1963 in Tacoma. Ken completed his pharmacy degree that same year and they moved to Kennewick, Washington. He worked there for a couple of years and their first child was born there before returning to Colfax in 1965. He worked in Hamilton Drug with his father Leo and eventually took over the business and continued to operate in downtown Colfax until his retirement at the age of 70 in 2007. Ken was Past-Exalted Ruler of the Colfax Elks and a member of that lodge for over 40 years, a 36 year member of the Hiram Lodge of Masons in Colfax and a longtime member of the Colfax Eagles. He and Ruth loved to travel to the Oregon Coast. He liked to go for walks especially where water was nearby and he was a lover of animals. He also enjoyed listening to Neil Diamond. He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Ruth, at their Colfax home; three children, Aileen & Ben Krohn of Seattle, Jeanine Cox, Pullman, and Tim & Shelley Cox of Spokane; and 2 grandchildren, Chase and Carly.
