KENNETH KAZUWO SATO, MD, 86, a longtime Pullman resident, died Jan. 13, 2016 at his Pullman home. Dr. Sato was born Sept. 28, 1929 to Harry & Noi (Aihara) Sato in Mitchell, Nebraska where he grew up on the family's farm. He began college at the age of 16 and graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School in Lincoln in 1953. After interning in Willimgton, DE, he served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1957, during which he was stationed in Japan. On April 5, 1953 Dr. Sato married Ruby Setsuko Miyahara in Mitchell, NE and in 1957 the family came to Pullman, WA where Dr. Sato began his long and dedicated medical practice. He was devoted to his work, family and friends; he served the Pullman community for many years until his retirement in 1997. Dr. Sato was an avid gardener, golfer, and a longtime member of the Clarkston Country Club. He was beloved by many and will be greatly missed. Dr. Sato is survived by his daughter Paula Sato of North Canton, OH; his son James Sato of Pullman, WA; and his sister Asako Morioka of Louisville, KY. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby in 1994. No public services will be planned and arrangements are under the direction of Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman, WA.
