Kraig Alan Marple, longtime Garfield resident, passed away February 3, 2024 at his home in Garfield. He was 67. Private family services were held and he was buried in the Garfield Cemetery. Kraig was born March 10, 1956 in Colfax to Gene and Lorna Covington Marple. He grew up in Garfield and attended school there where he played basketball and football. He graduated in 1974 and shortly thereafter enrolled in cosmetology school in Spokane. Kraig owned and operated his own hair salon in Spokane for many years called "Ziggy Stars Hair Design". Kraig met Karly Odell in 1979 who quickly became a friend and life partner with him. Although they never married; they remained close always. Together they had 2 sons; Derik and Taylor. Kraig loved music of all kinds. He wrote lyrics to songs or poems using any scrap of paper he could find. He enjoyed boating and water skiing at the lake and spending time with his family. In later years he returned to Garfield and spent his time caring for his mother until her passing. They shared a very special bond. Kraig was a family historian and liked collecting keepsakes of family history that he shared with everyone else. He is survived by his sons; Derik Marple in Spokane and Taylor (Alyssa) Marple of Yuma, AZ.; his brother Daymon Marple, and sister, Linda Kildew both living in Garfield; and by his life partner Karly Odell in AZ.
