A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 9th at 11:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church in Colfax. Larry Allan Jones was born May 3, 1942 in Opportunity, Washington to R.T. and Pearl (Janosky) Jones. He grew up in Colfax where his father ran a farm equipment business. Larry attended Colfax schools and served as ASB President. In high school he loved to drive his old Cadillac down the railroad tracks as "it had the perfect frame for it". He graduated from Colfax High School in 1960 and went to Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. While at college Larry met Cindy Cruver, a native of Seattle, and the couple fell in love. They graduated from college in 1964 and were married shortly thereafter, June 6, 1964, in Seattle. The couple made their home in Colfax where Larry worked for his father at Jones Truck & Implement. Larry's father passed away in January of 1973 and Larry became owner/operator of Jones Truck and Implement then. Larry's love of travel started at a young age when he was instructed to drive home new school buses or trucks from the factory. He was a member of the Elk's. Larry and Cindy kept busy with their young family too and as their family continued to grow Larry could never be more proud. He loved spending time with his family and with his grandkids. Larry enjoyed family time at their cabin on Priest Lake and he and Cindy had quality time in Maui on more than one occasion. It was here that he could truly be "not at work". They liked to snow ski and follow Cougar football in the winter months. Larry served as "general contractor" when they built their home on the North Flat in 1976. Words used to describe Larry are "grit, tenacity, perseverance and hard work". He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cindy; their 5 children, Krista (Jody) Boyd, Eric (Robin) Jones, Casey (Kelley) Jones all of Colfax, Kelly (Emily) Jones of Santa Barbara, CA. and Julie (Lee) Stilson of Steptoe; 13 grandchildren, Amber (Weston) Sellars of Cheney, Alexandra Boyd, Colfax, Reginald Jones also of Cheney, Christopher, Riane, Ella, Grace, Jack, and Ike Jones all of Colfax, Led and Katy Jones both of Santa Barbara, and Abigail and Brady Stilson both of Steptoe; Larry also has two great-granddaughters, Emersyn and Everleigh Sellars and a third one due to arrive in January. Larry is also survived by his sister, Betty Lou Stirling of McMinnville, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Audrey, in 2004. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Alzheimer's Association Washington State, North Tower, 100 W Harrison Street, N200, Seattle, WA 98119.
