Obituary

Larry Lockhart, Colfax farmer and truck driver, died suddenly on Thursday, April 17,near Colfax. He was 64. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 30 th , at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Bruning Funeral Home. Urn burial will be at the Onecho Cemetery. Lawrence "Larry" Lee Lockhart was born April 24, 1949 in Colfax to Clarence "Clink" and Mae Rose (Roth) Lockhart. He grew up around the Colfax area and as a teenager spent lots of time at his grandparents farm near Onecho, eventually spending more time at the farm than at home in Colfax. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1968. He continued to farm in the Colfax/Onecho area until joining the U.S. Army and serving in Vietnam. His duties included heavy haul trucking among other things. Larry was honorably discharged and returned to Colfax. He farmed and drove grain truck all of his life. He also did some logging for a time. Larry married Donna Hughes of Endicott and after several years together their marriage ended in divorce. He was known as an excellent welder and fabricator. He liked to shoot guns, loved his dogs, and was an avid reader of the Louis L'Amour series. He belonged to the Colfax Eagles and the American Legion. Larry is survived by his siblings Richard, Gail and Calvin Lockhart all of Colfax. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Onecho Cemetery.
