Lawrence Green Sarver Obituary

Lawrence (Larry) Green Sarver, age 99, died on July 13, 2020 in Colfax, Washington, exactly two weeks after his wife, Joeanne, passed away. He is survived by two sons, Stacy Sarver of Moscow, ID and Ronald Krieger of Colfax, WA, and two grandsons, John Krieger of San Antonio, TX, and Dakota Sarver of Spokane, WA. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hazel Sarver; brothers Paul (Mildred), DeLance (Mildred), Howard, Stanley (Lorraine) and Harold (Doris); sister Ruth Hergert (Taft), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was born November 25, 1920, in Colfax, Washington and graduated from Colfax High School in 1938. Larry is a veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Chandeleur from July 1942 to November 1945 as a Ships Service Man T Second Class. The USS Chandeleur earned five battle stars for service during the war. Upon discharge from the Navy, he went to work as a mechanic for Brown & Holter Chevrolet in Colfax, retiring in 1991, whereupon he started his own Sarver Repair business. Even as a child, he was always tinkering with cars, so it was no surprise that his life's work was spent as a mechanic. He took great pride in his work and the discipline and patriotism learned serving in the Navy never left him.

He married Joeanne Barbee in May, 1966 and they settled down to raise their family just outside of Colfax with wheat fields surrounding their lovely home. Larry was very active in the USS Chandeleur Sailors reunions which also allowed them to travel to the Deep South, which held a special place in his wife's heart. Larry's infection smile and wave will be missed by all who knew him.
