Obituary

Lee Higginson, longtime Colfax businessman, passed away December 6, 2016 at his Colfax home. He was 74. Memorial Services are being planned for later in the spring. Hollis Lee Higginson was born January 19, 1942 in Los Angeles, California to Hollis and Elina Parque Higginson. He was the oldest of the three Higginson children who all grew up in the Los Angeles area. Lee attended Catholic school and graduated with honors. He attended East L.A. Community College and along the way met his future wife while they were both working for a business forms company. He married Mary Fishero in Montebello, California on January 25, 1964. They made their home in Montebello and it's where they started their family. Lee always worked in sales of some kind, usually retail. They moved to Spokane briefly and then settled in Colfax 21 years ago. Lee and Mary took over the operation of the Hunter's Furniture Store when Lou Grimes retired. They also owned and operated Hunter's Appliance in Colfax. Lee loved to golf and spent as much time as he could down at the golf course. He also liked to collect stamps. Lee was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colfax and of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Mary, at their Colfax home; 7 children, Michael (Valerie) Higginson and Mary (Jake) Hahn both of Colfax, Elizabeth (Craig) Hershey of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Paul Higginson, Pullman, Teresa Higginson Madrid of Spokane, Sarah Lasher of Post Falls, Idaho and Catherine (David) Stoner of the Spokane Valley. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and by his brother and sister, Denis Higginson and Suzanne Higginson both living in California.
