Lena V. Cox passed away December 29, 2012 at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colfax.
She was born September 6, 1914 on the family farm outside of Endicott to John and Julia Lust.
On September 20, 1934 she married Dallas Cox of Hay, Washington and lived on the Cox Ranch in Hay for about 10 years. They moved to Colfax and resided there until Dallas passed away February of 1959. Lena moved to The Courtyard in 2009 where she resided until her passing. Lena will be remembered as a gracious lady who enjoyed homemaking and loved to cook. She enjoyed her numerous relatives and friends, always having an open door. She loved hosting Christmas Day in her home, but most of all she loved her family who were the highlight of her life. Lena was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Colfax, served on the election board, belonged to Eastern Star and Ladies Oriental Shrine.
Lena is survived by, her grandchildren of her deceased daughter Sandra ; Bill Filan of Connell WA, Damon (Jeanette) Filan of Kennewick WA, DiDi Hill of Mesa AZ, and Dallas (Denise) Filan of LaCrosse WA.
Son Durand (Roberta) Cox of Hay WA, their children Kim (J.A.) Watson of Las Vegas NV, Dianne (Robert) Spiro of Sammamish WA, and Doug (Amy) Cox of Pullman WA.
Son Jon (Shirley) Cox of Hay WA, their children Katie (Len) MacGillivray of West Branch IA, Jason (Audra) Cox of Iowa City IA, Michelle Danielson of Endicott WA, and Melissa (Loren) Fleming of LaCrosse WA.
A sister Julia Ellis of Yakima WA, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great- grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dallas Arthur Cox in 1959, and her daughter Sandra Gay Filan May 27, 2008.
A memorial service will be held Saturday January 5, 2013 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Colfax at 2:00 P.M. Private burial to precede service. Public viewing will be Friday January 4, 2013 at Bruning Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
