Obituary

Lila passed away on Jan. 21st in Spokane, Wash., at the age of 92. She was the fifth child born to Jack and Grace Glorfield of six siblings.  She was almost four years old when her mother died.

Lila attended Ewan school up to the 9th grade. The school consolidated to St. John High School for her last three years of high school. She graduated in 1947. She was crowned queen in her sophomore year, on sales sold by a student girl that sold the most tickets for a worthy cause.  She was a member of the First Rainbow for Girls that started up in St. John, and Independent Order of Odd Fellows Rebekah No. 68.

Being raised on a wheat farm, she learned to drive wheat truck in the summers. Her father bragged on her saying she was the best truck driver he ever had. She was only 14.

After a long courtship, she married John Novak. He was the love of her life and they adored each other.

Lila was always involved in helping others.  She was a nurse's aide at Ignatius Hospital and Whitman Hospital in Colfax, Wash. She was also involved in Hospice and St. Luke's Hospital and Rehabilitation in Spokane, Wash. Lila was a member of the Christian Life Assembly in St.  John, Wash. She was a woman of great faith and she had God in her heart. Now she is up there with Him.

Lila is survived by her children, David Curtis Sr., Sue Blakemore, Joe (Debbie) Curtis, and a former daughter-in-law, Peg Curtis. By her grandchildren: Natalie (Jeremy) Niccum with sons Esten and Parker; Jessica Curtis and her daughter Drew; David Curtis Jr.; Emily Blakemore with children Faith and Nathan; Sarah Blakemore and daughter Katana; Eva (Jeet) Dhillon and their children, Lilamarie, Anika, Tristan, Sakkara, and K.J.; James (Amanda) Curtis with their son Caden and three stepchildren, John (Cheryl) Novak Jr., Michael (Sherrie) Novak, and Debby (Bruce) Meyer.  Also surviving are her sisters, Alva May Jordon, of St. John, and Patsy Mills-Schuster, of Omak, Wash.; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Curtis, her sister Doris Ericksen, brothers Benny and Jackie Glorfield, also a stepdaughter, Rebecca Novak.

There will be a private Family Service at Christian Life Assembly in St. John, Wash., at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 29th, 2022. She will be laid to rest in the St. John Cemetery. Corbeill Funeral Homes in Colfax is caring for the family.
