Obituary

LILLIAN DAHMEN BAUER

Lillian died Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Bishop Place in Pullman, WA. She was born June 3, 1923 on Bald Butte outside of Colton, WA to John and Agnes (Keller) Dahmen. Later, they moved to Uniontown, WA, where her father started a dairy farm. He subsequently built the Dahmen Barn, as we now know it.
Lil (as she liked to be called) was one of thirteen children (8 girls and 5 boys). There were many wonderful stories shared over the years that happened in that busy household.

She attended St. Boniface elementary and high school and attended St. Boniface Catholic Church in Uniontown, WA and after her marriage St. Galls in Colton, WA.

She married her high school sweetheart, Ray F. Bauer, on Sept. 23, 1941.
They started their life together on the family farm with Ray's parents George and Tillie Druffel Bauer. Out of this union three children were born, Robert, Ellen and Donna. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage up to Ray's passing on May 13, 2009.
Lil and Ray enjoyed traveling over the years and visited Europe, Caribbean, Hawaii, Belize and Mexico. Their final trip was taken for their 60th Wedding Anniversary with their children and their spouses to Mexico.

Lil's days were busy with children, gardening, sewing and being a hard working farm wife. She was frequently called upon by Ray to feed whoever happened to show up at the shop at lunchtime. She always managed to put together a great lunch with dessert and wonderful hospitality. One of Lil's favorite times of the year was Christmas, especially when all the family came home for Christmas Eve. She loved to shop for every child, grandchild and great grandchild.

Lil was a member of the Colton Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America. She served as the local Regent, State Regent and National Director for the Catholic Daughters.

She was preceded in death by Ray, her parents, her parents-in-law, and siblings, Margaret Kinzer, Lucy Thill, Dorothy Busch, Verna Powers, Dan Dahmen, Claude Dahmen, Florence Grimm and Jack Dahmen. She is survived by siblings: Millie Thill, Clete Dahmen, Rollie Dahmen and Carol Entel. She is also survived by her children: Robert (Karla) Bauer, Uniontown; Ellen (Glenn) Fuller, Asotin and Donna (Steve) Busch, Moscow. She leaves behind nine grandchildren,
Kevin (Nozomi) Bauer, Kris Bauer, Kathy Bauer, Karrie (Ron) Kehl, Raquel (Romen) Heitmann, Ryan (Brooke) Kinzer, Lesley (Mike) Doyle, Eric (Jacquelyn) Busch and Adam (Laura) Busch. Plus 15 great grandchildren: Emi, Ethan, Maddie, Kendyll, Lexi, Lily, Logan, Kaiden, Zoey, Tannon, Carter, Arianna, Bryn, Cooper and Payton.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dennis Simpson and his nurse, Amanda, the Lab staff and all other staff at Palouse Medical for taking such good care of our mother. Also, thank you to the staff at Bishop Place for being thoughtful, respectful and caring of our mom.

There will be a rosary for Lil on Sunday, June 4 at 5:30 at St. Gall's Catholic Church in Colton, WA. The funeral service will be on Monday, June 5 at 11:00 am, also at St. Gall's.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the St. Galls's Endowment Fund, Colton-Uniontown EMT's or the charity of your choice.
