LLOYD F. SUNWOLD, 81, of LaCrosse, WA passed away Nov. 3, 2014 at Whitman Health & Rehab Center in Colfax, WA. Lloyd was born Nov. 20, 1932 in Fairfield, WA to Albert & Christine (Miller) Sunwold. He grew up and attended school in Fairfield and following graduation from high school, attended trade school for a time. Lloyd enlisted in the US Army and served during the Korean War era until his honorable discharge following which he returned to Fairfield where he began his career in the fertilizer industry. Lloyd married CoAnn McRae in 1956 and they made Fairfield their home where he worked for Palouse Ammonia Inc., until moving to LaCrosse in 1959, beginning his career with the McGregor Company, managing their LaCrosse plant. Lloyd retired following 34 years with the company. In 1986 CoAnn preceded Lloyd in death. He married Catherine Olson on May 15, 1988 and they continued to make LaCrosse their home. Lloyd was a member of the Fairfield Grange, the Lions Club, the LaCrosse Community Center and was a member of the LaCrosse Volunteer Fire Dept. He had many interests among which was his love for tending to his cattle for nearly 20 years. Following retirement Lloyd farmed for Gene Camp. He loved the outdoors. Spending time at the family summer home at Rainbow Beach Resort near Inchelium, WA where he spent many hours fishing and watching Mariner baseball games. During the winter Lloyd spent time playing pool and watching Seahawk football. He is survived by his wife Catherine at the family home in LaCrosse; his two sons Duane (MaryAnne) Sunwold of Spokane; Dale (Jill) Sunwold of Yakima; his daughter Kimberly (Courtney) Olson of Mukilteo, WA; his brother Ralph Sunwold of Spangle, WA; and 9 grandchildren. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax, WA is caring for the family. Memorial donations are suggested to the LaCrosse Scholarship Foundation.
