Jean was born June 18, 1916 in Colfax to Roy and Bessie (Gerber) Wells. She attended school in Colfax and graduated from high school there in 1934. Jean attended Kinman Business School for a few years and began working for the Soil Conservation Service in Spokane and later in Colfax. She met Ted Repp who was from Endicott while both were attending a dance in Colfax. They married October 30, 1937 and moved to a farm near Dusty. Jean kept busy helping on the farm, raising their children, and being a wonderful homemaker. She was also active in their church and Sunday school at Trinity Lutheran in Endicott. She was a member of the Dusty BB Club and bowled on leagues for many years. Jean loved working with her hands and was talented at knitting, crochet, and sewing and was a gifted artist who enjoyed oil painting. Jean wasn't afraid of getting dirty either and she loved gardening, camping and fishing with her family. Jean's family was always at the core of her attention and she was very proud of each of her children and grandchildren.
Ted and Jean retired from the farm and moved into Colfax in 1974. They liked to dance and travel and after 22 winters spent in Mesa, Arizona they developed many lasting friendships there as well. Ted passed away November 20, 2003. Jean is survived by her three children; Carol (Stan) Schmick of Yakima, WA, Gayle (Jack) Heaton, West Richland, WA, and Randy (Kristin) Repp of Dusty; 6 grandchildren, Terri, Todd, Kirk, Kevin, Daemon and Aaron; 13 great-grandchildren, Quint Noble, Collin Noble, Carson Schmick, Kayla Schmick, Gage and Morgan Heaton, Michael, Lane and Wade Heaton, Cameron, Mason, Derek and Darin Repp and by 1 great-great-grandson Chase Heaton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Harold and Russell Wells. The family suggests memorial gifts to Trinity Lutheran Church or to a charity of donor's choice.
