Obituary

Loretta V. Clark, long time Colfax resident, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Whitman Health & Rehab Center in Colfax. She was 80. A funeral service will be Monday, November 19th at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Bruning Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Colfax Cemetery. Loretta was born April 4, 1932 in Brodhead, Wisconsin to Orville and Vera (Taylor) Paulson. She developed her strong work ethic by having a paper route when she was only 10 or 11 years old. She married Donald David Miller in 1950. They made their home in Monroe, Wisconsin where Loretta kept busy as a homemaker and mother. She and Donald later divorced. Loretta moved to Washington in 1964 and lived in Benge, Endicott and LaCrosse before finally settling in Colfax in 1969. She married Harvey "Ed" Clark in July 1969. Loretta worked as a cook for Stevenson Hall on the WSU campus and she also cooked for the Cougar football team for many years. She retired in 1994. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, longtime member of the Colfax Eagles and bowled for many years on the Colfax bowling league. She loved hunting and fishing. Her husband Ed passed away December 11, 1997. Loretta and her longtime companion Eugene Osmun really enjoyed visiting casinos, and were very fond of their puppy "Smoky". Loretta always had a love for animals. Gene passed away February 15, 2011. Loretta is survived by her children; Christine Iverson of Colorado Springs, CO, Roxanne K. Miller of Colfax, Stephen Miller of Idaho Falls, ID and her step-sons; Jim, Bobby and Eddie Clark; 4 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild and 5 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers Siguard and Merl Paulson and 4 sisters; Beverly, Linda, Dolores and Sharon. She was preceded in death by a brother Orville "Butch" Paulson. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to either the American Legion or the Whitman County Humane Society.
