Obituary

Lottie Yvonne (McCown) Crider was born on May 15, 1937, in Marmoth, North Dakota, to James and Mary McCown. Her family relocated to St. Maries, Idaho when she was five, and later to Malden, Washington. Lottie graduated from Pine City High School, where she was active in cheerleading, basketball, and various clubs.

Lottie met her husband, Dan Crider, during high school, and they married in 1955. She attended Kinman Business School while Dan studied at Gonzaga University and later attended Eastern Washington University. Lottie was a lifelong supporter of Gonzaga Basketball the Spokane Indians and Seattle Mariners although the NY Yankees were her favorite.

After Dan began farming, the couple settled in Ewan and later St. John, Washington. Lottie balanced farm life, raising a family, and working at local businesses, including Ewan Grocery, Tick Tock Drug Store, Bonnie's Clothing, and Freeman Brothers Grocery. She was involved in the St. John Garden Club, the Altar Society of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Daughters' of the American Revolution, and the Whitman County Genealogy Society.

Lottie enjoyed gardening, painting, quilting, outdoor activities, and supporting her church and community in various roles. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, laughing and sharing her love of the Palouse region. She also took pride in teaching some of her grandchildren to drive and celebrating family milestones, including their 50th, 60th, and 70th wedding anniversaries.

In her later years, Lottie cherished the companionship of her dog, Buddy, and adapted to life at Bishop Place Senior Living in Pullman. She passed away on October 12, 2025.
